25 Billion Apps

This was a math task  from htttp://threeacts.mrmeyer.com/25billionapps by Mr. Meyer. It is to find out when to download apps to win the $10,000 iTunes Gift Card for downloading the 25,000,000,000 app on the iTunes store.

What I first did was see how apps was downloaded in 2 minutes my answer was 69,263 apps every 2 minutes by subtracting 24,658,507,655 from 24,658,576,918. Then I divided 69,263 by 2 to get how many apps per a minute which is 34,631.5. Then I subtracted  24,658,507,655  from 25,000,000,000 the answer was 341,423,082. Then I divided 341,423,082 by how many apps per a minute which is 34,631.5 and got 9,858.74368710567 to find out how many minutes it is going to take to get to 25,000,000,000 apps. After that I divided 9,858.74368710567 by 60 to get see how many hours it will take to get 25,000,000,000 apps and the answer was 164.3123947850945. next I divided 164.3123947850945 by 24 to get how many days it will take to get to 25,000,000,000 apps and the answer is 6.846349782712271. Then use the 6 for 6 days that would it make it March 1 because it was a leap year. Then I took 8 and used it for 8 hours. Then I used 46 for 46 minutes. Then I used pm because that is when I started my math with.

My answer:

Thursday March 1, 8:46 pm

A few things Miah… Your readers need to know the time and date when there were 24, 658,576,918 downloads. A lot of students forgot that in their response. Next, at the end your calculations yielded 6.8463… That is technically not 6 days and 8 hours, since there are 24 hours in a day. 6.8 would mean 6 days and 8/10 hours left, which is almost 7 days. Just some feedback 🙂 You are doing a wonderful job, keep it up!
